Skills Building

I attended a workshop on Network services at the end of May in Morocco and it was quite interesting. I got to meet and share with people who experience the same things as i do at work, the same challenges, some frustrations and successes, from all over Africa. I must say this was really interesting and i had a lot of fun. Two weeks out of the office attending an intensive training is not a joke.

A good time was had by all!!!!! The next workshop in Egypt is definitely going to be an interesting one and i hope i will be able to raise the funds required.

New beginnings

It has been a while sinceI posted anything on this blog.
I joined a new company as an administrator and things have been , and still are pretty hectic.

I have settled into my job, not with ease, There are a lot of new things to learn and most of it i have learnt by research, googling, consulting. technologies such as VVM, SANtricity , storage arrays, Universe dB and managing LPing, SDS-now SVM are all now part of the new job.

Since i have been here, i have been lucky to have the two servers failing completely, and requiring a rebuild so i have learnt a lot.

The greatest thing is I have now moved to another town and spend more time with my family. What a blessed joy!!!!!!!!!!

The major differences with my previous job is the amount of UNIX administration i now do- we have three midrange servers and another three low-end servers, all running Solaris. The applications are different as well.

I hope i will get some time to keep blogging!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
